To mate in two, White must conduct a typical sacrifice and check maneuver with square clearance at once, see... The friendly White rook is blocking access to f7, h7 for the White queen. What is White to do in order to mate?.. The White rook moves on f8 with check and sacrifice to clear f7 for the White queen. The f7 square being cleared, the White queen delivers mate from h7 or f7.

1. Qc6+ Bxc6 2. dxc6#
The Black king is blocked almost all around by its friendly pawns; the squares c8-e8 are attacked by the White rook... The square c6 is critical for Black and it is defended by the Black bishop... To mate in two, the White queen moves on c6 with check and sacrifice to remove the defender of the critical c6. On the second move, the White pawn takes the bishop on c6 with mate.
