1. Rd8+ Kc5 2. Rc6#
After 1. Rd8+, the Black king has only 1 legal move to retreat on c5. Then the second White rook, supported by the friendly bishop, delivers mate. The squares b4, d4 are blocked by 2 Black rooks.



 Checkmate Puzzle 2 Solution

1. h4+ Kxh4 2. Qh6#
After 1. h4+, the Black king has to take the pawn on h4 because it is the only possibility and only legal move. Then the White queen delivers mate covering g5, h5. The rook defends its pawn on g4.
