      Solution to Puzzle 69

1. Qh5#
At the opening, Black moved his first pawns on f5 and then the second one on g5... which resulted that the Black king is undefended. To mate in one, the White queen moves on h5. There is no defense for the mated king. This is a variation of Fools' Mate for White. A variation of the classic Fool's Mate for Black runs in the following order: 1. f3 e5 2. g4 Qh4#. The classic Fool's Mate for Black is also known as the "Two-Move Checkmate" - it is the shortest mate in chess.

      Solution to Puzzle 70

The mate in this position is similar to the checkmate of the previous position, but here the mate is delivered by bishop. At the opening, the the kingside pawns of Black moved ahead leaving the line e8-g6 open. To mate in one, the light White bishop moves on g6. There is no defense for the mated king.
