1. Qd4#
Let's see at the position around the Black king. The king is blocked by a friendly pawn on b5. He can not move around except to take the White pawn on c3. The left White pawn is attacking b3, and the pawn on c3 is undefended. The White queen moves on d4 to defend the pawn on c3 and to deliver mate in one. Please study again this position to remember. Pay attention to the role of the White a2-pawn.

1. Nb5#
Let's see at the position around the Black king. The b6 square is blocked by a friendly pawn and the d7 square by a friendly rook. The rest squares around the Black king are being attacked by the White queen - but not d6. And what do we have as the result of our estimation? To deliver mate in one, White needs to attack c7 and d6 by one piece at the same time... The above job can be done by the knight move. To deliver mate in one, the White knight moves on b5 with the attack on c7 and d6.
