      Solution to Puzzle 75
chess puzzle 75 for kids
1. Rb7#
This is a typical chess position and very common mate pattern to learn. The mate is delivered by the rook under the support of the friendly bishop. What was there on the board a few moves ago?.. The Black king was on a7, and the White rook took the pawn on c7 with check... The king retreated on b6 delivering attack on the rook... Let's see on the current position... The Black king is blocked on a6, b5. The White knight is attacking a5, c5. The White bishop is attacking c6, b7. The attacked White rook is covering a7, b7, c6, c5; but the rook is unprotected... To mate in one, the rook moves on b7 which is supported by the f3-bishop.

1. Nxe6#
On this position, you can see many minor pieces on the chess board from the both parties. Note: The minor pieces in chess are the bishop and knight, and the major pieces in chess are the queen and rook... The Black king is blocked by his friendly pieces on c8, d7. The White bishop is attacking e8. The right White knight is attacking e7. You can see that the Black king is on the safe d8 and can safely move on c7. If White attacks d8 and c7 in one move, he will mate. This job can be done using the knight move... To mate in one, the left White knight takes the pawn on e6 delivering checkmate with the attack on d8 and c7 in one jump.
