In the above position, the Black king is blocked by his own pawn only on e5. However, the White pieces are attacking many squares around the king: the White pawn on c4 attacks d5; the dark bishop attacks d6, e7; the rook f7, f6, f5. In the current position, the king is on e6 and can move only on d7... Supported by the rook, the light White bishop moves on f5 to mate in one.
